MY ADMINISTRATION IS COMMITTED TO ENCOURAGING THE YOUTHS – Governor Ikpeazu

The first Abia State mega youth summit has kicked off with the theme “A Productive Engagement Impact: Igniting Youth Entrepreneurship”.
Speaking at the International Conference Centre, venue of the summit, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu said his administration is committed to encouraging the youths in the State and advocated for removal of years of experience being attached by employers of labour.
He revealed that, on his assumption duties as the State Governor in 2015, he discovered that greatest gifts Abia State has is the people, hence his decision to empower them.
According to the Governor, so far, the first set of 30 youths have been gone to China and learnt automated shoemaking, while another set would soon go. He informed that plans are on the way to bring in electric power supplier that would be cheaper than EEDC to the State.
The Governor disclosed that Abia State has blazed trail in healthcare as it is the first State that introduced telehealth programme, an initiation that enables one to get medical attention through phone call.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who used the opportunity to launch the Abia Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programme urged youths in the State to embrace skill acquisition that is capable of making them job creators.
Earlier, the host of the mega summit and Commissioner for Youth Development, Chief Ike Anyataonwu said the summit was been conceived to as an interactive clinic with youths, to provide them with knowledge and grant them the opportunity to build sustainable network. He said the event would have an enduring impact on the youths, adding that the present administration in the State has exposed youths to many entrepreneurship opportunities and extolled Dr. Ikpeazu for all he has been doing for the youths, including approving the hosting of the summit.
