A commendation prayer session has been held at Government House for the first batch of Abia State mechanised shoe making trainees bid to travel to China.
He challenged them to work hard and jettison indolence as the Chinese people are known for hard work.
According to him, their ability to work hard and prove their mettle would pave way for the remaining batch of trainees that would be sent soon.
Dr. Ikpeazu, who informed that 65 million Naira (N65,000,000) was spent on them to ensure they succeed, expressed confidence that the delegates would do Abia State proud.
Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Job Creation and Youth Development, Mr. Chinenye Nwaogu, who doubles as the State’s Focal Person on Social Investment, said the team is being sent to China to learn the automated shoe making so as to enhance the economy of the State.
He maintained that the exercise was one of the Governor’s efforts in promoting made in Aba products, which he said has won the Governor many laurels.
Mr Nwaogu further said that those selected were persons who were already in the business and believed that they would represent the State well.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communication, Mr. Sam Hart said that the State government paid everything for them, adding that each of them would have an interpreter as they are being trained.
He also informed that the training would be in three layers; management, artisan and design and that a representative of Ministry of Trade & Investment would be part of the movement to ensure proper documentation of the programme.
In a short sermon, the Arch Bishop Methodist Church, Most Rev. Raphael Chibuzo Opoko advised the trainees not to deviate from the purpose of the journey. He urged them to make punctuality, hard work and diligence their watch word. The man of God and his colleagues prayed for the Governor and the success of the travel of the team.
In a vote of thanks, Hon. Hanson Amaechi, the Executive Chairman, Obingwa Local Government appreciated the good gesture of the State Governor and expressed hope that the delegates would heed to the pieces of advice given them.
30 Shoemakers depart to China for the First batch of Abia -China Automated Shoe Training programme.
30 trainees out of 100 shoemakers are set to leave the shores of Nigeria to China for a 30 day automated shoe training programme.
The programme is put together by the State Government as part of her efforts to promote made in Aba.
The first batch has 3 non Abians who were carefully selected to join others.
Today, a prayer ceremony was organized at the Government House, to ask for God’s guidance and wisdom on the trainees.
Governor of Abia State Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu charged the trainees to be of good behavior, learn every single step and bring back the knowledge for others to learn.
