Symington, who made the statement during the 243rd Independence of the United States of America in Abuja, urged Nigerians to live in unity.

It was earlier reported that Nigeria’s vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, was on Wednesday, June 26, received at the White House in Washington, DC by his American counterpart, Mike Pence. Osinbajo had a cordial meeting with Pence on Wednesday at the White House which focused on efforts to strengthen the relationship between both nations. During a walk with Osinbajo at the end of the discussion, Pence referred to Nigeria’s number two citizen as a friend.
