1. The British Broadcasting cooperation, BBC has asked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to probe the alleged assault on its correspondent, Ajoke Ulohotse, who was attacked during the just concluded governorship and House of Assembly elections in Alimosho Local Government Area in Lagos. In a video clip, the politician was also heard insisting that the female journalist should not record him. He was heard asking the reporter of who she was trying to call.

2. Boko Haram militants, Monday evening, attacked Michika town in Adamawa State, northeast Nigeria. Residents told disclosed that the attack came from all sides, as the community was engulfed with different sounds of gunfire from both the terrorists and a military unit in the area. According to residents, who manage to escape, soldiers were able to hold their ground in the battle.

3. The Six Division of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt has raised a query over the alleged invasion of the Obio-Akpor collation centre by Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike which was ignored by the fact-finding committee of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Aminu Iliyasu in a statement said INEC’s statement on the matter clearly indicates lack of trust by an institution that the Nigerian Army sacrifices so much to assist in the course of performing their role. It threatens to withdraw from participating further in the process if investigation was not carried out.

4. Ahead of the scheduled governorship and State Assembly supplementary polls this weekend, the Nigerian Central Office of the International Human Rights Commission has nominated Senator Dino Melaye to lead the delegation of observers. A letter addressed to the controversial lawmaker, which was signed by the Commission’s Diplomatic head to Nigeria and African Countries, Ambassador Friday Sani, on Monday, it stated that the delegation would observe elections in Rivers and Kano States.

5. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s posturing that he will not manipulate the March 23 governorship indicated that he allegedly rigged the presidential election. PDP said Buhari’s stance on the “supplementary elections is not only a direct confession that the Presidency used its overbearing influence to rig the February 23 Presidential election, but also a fresh subterfuge to divert public attention from APC’s rigging plots ahead of the Supplementary elections.”

6. The Army on Monday confirmed the killing of Col. Mohammed Barack, the Garrison Commander, 33 Artillery Brigade of Nigerian Army in Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi. Unidentified gunmen killed the officer on Sunday. It was not clear whether he was killed by bandits or assassins. Barack, who was riding a power bike, was shot on Jos-Bauchi highway while returning from Kaduna. The officer hailed from Kano State.

7. The United States has accused the Federal Government of Nigeria of murdering citizens. US said the current administration and its agents were committing arbitrary and unlawful killings. This is contained in a recent report titled, “2018 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices” published on the Department of State website.

8. The Delta State government has suspended the headmistress of Okotie-Eboh Primary School 1, Sapele Local Government of the state, Mrs. Vero Igbigwe. She was suspended following the viral video where little Success Adegor was sent home over school fees. Igbigwe was suspended when the Commissioner for Education, Barr. Chiedu Ebie, visited the school. The head teacher, according to the commissioner, could not explain the alleged illegal collection of examination levies from the school students. A statement by the commissioner explained that primary and secondary education in Delta remained free.

9. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his party have finally filed a petition challenging Buhari’s re-election. Atiku and his party are challenging Buhari’s reelection on the grounds of alleged massive riggings, malpractices and non-compliance substantially with the electoral laws. In the petition filed Monday evening, the main part of the prayers was for Atiku to be declared winner of the February 23 presidential election.

10. A fire outbreak that occurred along Club Road at Lagos bus stop in the old Port-Harcourt township has destroyed property worth millions of naira in the area. The fire outbreak according to eyewitnesses was caused by illegally refined Kerosene fondly called Kpo-fire stored in the building. The fire razed a building and all the shops in the same building.
