1. Former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Tuesday institute a N2.5b libel suit against a Presidential aide, Mrs Lauretta Onochie over an alleged libellous publication. Atiku was at the Registry of the Federal Capital Territory Judiciary (FCT) where he formally deposed to his own witness statement on Oath before the Commissioner for Oaths to kick-start the libel suit. The suit was in connection to a publication wherein, Onochie on her Twitter handle alleged that Atiku is on the watchlist of security operatives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for alleged criminal matters.

2. Founder and General Overseer of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has spoken against the controversial hate speech bill in Nigeria. Oyedepo, while condemning the bill at the 2019 Shiloh said it shall not come to pass. According to him, the bill was dead on arrival.

3. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Makurdi zonal office, on Tuesday, arraigned a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Prof. Emmanuel Kucha, over alleged N70 million fraud. Kucha is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, misappropriation of public funds, abuse of office and gratification. The former vice-chancellor, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

4. President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday unveiled made in Nigeria war vehicles, promising that the security of lives and property of Nigerians under his government was guaranteed. The vehicles, code-named Ezugwu MRAP, will be used for counter-insurgency operations by the army. The event held in Kaduna.

The Department of State Services (DSS) raised the alarm saying over alleged uncovered syndicated plots by some undesirable groups to cause a breakdown of law and order in various parts of the country including Abuja. The arrangement, according to a statement signed by the DSS Spokesman, Peter Afunanya is to instigate protests, mass action and violence with a view to causing anarchy and destabilizing the country.

6. There appeared to be confusion on Tuesday over the Federal Government’s announcement that it has changed grazing reserves in seven states to ranches. The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Nomadic Education, Prof. Bashir Usman, in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Tuesday, said the remodelling of grazing reserves into ranches was part of efforts to transform the country’s livestock industry. But the selected states Adamawa, Taraba, Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, Kaduna, and Zamfara. But the states have claimed they are not aware of any remodelling.

7. The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has renamed Onikan Stadium after late first Military Governor of Lagos State, Brig-Gen Mobolaji Olufunsho Johnson, to honour and immortalise the deceased. Sanwo-Olu announced this Tuesday, at an event tagged: “A day of Tribute” at Onikan Stadium, Lagos Island, as part of activities lined up for the burial arrangements for the late military Governor.

8. The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has released the list of withdrawn certificates of candidates, who were believed to have engaged in malpractices during its examinations held as far back as December 1992 and 1993. WAEC released the examination years and certificate numbers of the affected candidates and revealed that the nature of their malpractices was impersonation. The list of affected WAEC candidates was published in the weekly bulletin of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, released on Monday.

9. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has spoken from where he is taking cover against the police. A combined team of police and military officers had invaded the residence of Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lawyer to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of IPOB, leading to claims of several deaths. In a video shared on Facebook on Tuesday, Ejiofor wondered why police stormed his residence despite speaking with the police commander. He claimed that some police officers took away the corpses of those killed and burnt them somewhere. He added that his mother was gunned down and presently receiving treatment at the hospital. He also denied that two policemen were killed at his place.

10. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday said it had arrested a former councillor in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Samuel Opeyemi Adeojo. According to EFCC, Adeojois allegedly the leader of a car theft syndicate notorious for stealing vehicles from car dealers while pretending to be genuine buyers. Until his arrest, the EFCC had been on his trail. EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren said no fewer than three cases of car theft have been established against the syndicate.
