One killed as Ghana boys attack Benue community, set police van ablaze
One person has been killed and a few others injured after some boys believed to be working for wanted criminal, Terwase Akwaza, otherwise known as Ghana, attacked Tse Ikyeen village in Ukum LGA of Benue State.
DAILY POST gathered that following a distress call received by the Police that a family from Ukum LGA was being attacked by some bandits from Shitile community in a farm at Tse Ikyeen village, a police team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
The state polic PRO, ASP Moses Yamu in a statesmen on Sunday, said upon arrival at the Tse Ikyeen, the Police team was equally attacked by the armed bandits from Shitile and prevented them from removing the corpse of the victim.
“Although the Police team was successfully rescued by the reinforcement sent, a Police Patrol van was set ablaze by the bandits from Shitile.
“It is necessary to indicate here that the people of Katsina Ala LGA and Ukum LGA have been embroiled in perennial communal clashes.
“It is unfortunate that despite all the concerted efforts being made by the Government and the security agencies to ensure safety of life and property in the State, some criminals have continued to truncate these initiatives for reasons best known to them,” the command lamented.
