PDP Thanks Isuikwuato Monarchs For Being Equity-Friendly:
By Sir Don Ubani; KSC, JP,
Okwubunka of Asa,
State Publicity Secretary,
PDP, Abia State,
24th December, 2018.
There was a sound principle on which its founding fathers struggled for the creation of Abia State that was eventually realized in 1992.
Equity was that underlying principle. The progenitors of the State knew that nothing could destabilize any human society more than the absence of equity in running its affairs.
What then is equity? This is a question that even the most ignorant being can give a practical answer to. It simply means observance and application of justice and fairness in handling matters that affect humanity.
Equity demands that there should be even distribution of resources and positions amongst different segments of people that a human society is composed of.
Driving equity home to Abia State that is made up of three senatorial districts, equity naturally dictates that in a situation where Abia-North has produced a governor of the State that governed for eight consecutive years, followed by Abia-Central that equally ruled for eight years in a stretch, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who hails from Abia-South and whose performances have exceeded the ordinary, should be given maximum support to complete his constitutionally-stipulated second tenure, through 2019 general election.
Power is one thing that can expose the vulnerability of man to greed and lust. Because of inordinate ambition to grab power at all cost, some persons in the State have openly jettisoned the well-conceived spirit of equity that was entrenched in Abia Charter of Equity.
That Charter specifically dictates that there shall be rotation of power in the State. Some politicians have even gone to the ridiculous extent of denouncing their local government area of origin, just to falsely fit into the geographical description of those that should benefit from equity of rotation within this dispensation.
At a time when truth has become a very scarce commodity in our society, it becomes very exciting and captivating to hear that Royal Fathers from a local government area in Abia-North, where a candidate for governorship comes from, could come out openly and boldly to state that, based on Abia Charter of Equity and scintillating performances of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, that the Governor should be supported to do a second tenure.
The Traditional Rulers of Isuikwuato local government area, majestically led by His Royal Majesty, Eze Ezo Ukandu, Enyi na Obiangwu of Ancient Ahaba Imenyi Kingdom, have taken the bull by the horn. By coming out openly to support the re-election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the Isuikwuato Royal Fathers have simply made a bold unambiguous statement. They have, by their posture, called on any inordinately ambitious son of theirs to respect the principle of equity and, by so doing, allow peace to reign in the State. This implicit warning also goes to any other politician with vaulting ambition from any other senatorial district in the State except Abia-South.
The Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State is deeply appreciative of this bold step taken by the Isuikwuato Royalty and assures their Majesties and Highnesses of the Party’s continuous respect and thanks for standing for the truth, irrespective of whose ox might be gored.
State Publicity Secretary.
