A true leader is known by the impacts he makes on the people through his visions and plans for the future of the people. This is why everyone in Isialangwa South is celebrating the way and manner the Transition Committee Chairman of the Council, Chief Ike Anyatonwu is interpreting beautifully, the visions of Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D in his Council.
Recently on a special invitation by Chief Anyatonwu I witnessed the closing ceremony of the first phase of the Isialangwa South Youth Empowerment (I-YES) Scheme who were trained in Solar Electrical Installations and System Design sponsored by the Council Chairman himself. According to him, the reason to sponsor these youths for the training is hinged on the fact that his administration has keyed into the street lightening project of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and would use the participants to start installation of solar powered street lights at Umuikaa Junction, Nkwo Okpu market and Omoba main market to test-run the quality of the training. He also assured that the participants will be provided with startup kits to enable them set up their own businesses.
Recall that Chief Anyatonwu recently launched the Isiala Ngwa South Mass Transit Scheme as well as provided official vehicles for the Head of Service of the Council and the Treasurer to enhance their productivity and efficiency in carrying out their duties in Isialangwa South LGA. Chief Anyatonwu has also made payment for the purchase of Grader for the Council. The Grader, according to the Council Chairman would be for all year round grading of the roads in Isialangwa South LGA. What a vision!
As if that was not enough, the workaholic Council Boss has just allotted and distributed 15 Motorcycles among Health Workers, Nigerian Vigilante Group, some offices in the Council and other groups in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area. The essence of donating the motorcycles was to enable them function optimally in their different assignments in the Council with a view to achieving greater results.
For the Health Workers the Chairman expects them to rekindle the spirit of the days of yore, when we had and respected “Ndi Ole Ala” (Health Officers), who were feared as they supervised environmental cleanliness in the communities and improve healthcare of the people. Then the fear of being sued by the Health Workers was the beginning of wisdom for everyone. Members of communities both, rural and urban, kept their environment clean enjoyed sound health. This is what Chief Anyatonwu wants to replicate in Isialangwa South LGA.
The Nigerian Vigilante Group and some youths were given the mobilities to enhance their effectiveness in beefing up security in the Council and ensuring that government property in different communities of the Council are protected among other things.
Also, the Osuala-South Council Boss revealed that his administration would soon train 10 youths selected from 10 wards of the Council in pig farming to further empower the youths and make them economically independent. Chief Anyatonwu equally desires that the Primary School teachers serving in the Council keys into the agricultural programmes of his administration, hence he has concluded plans to carry them along in that direction, even as he has assured that he would prioritize the welfare of the teachers in the Council, thereby placing them above their equals in the State.
These and more are pointers to the fact that Chief Ike Anyatonwu, “Emetu Mba Ahu Dike” is a leader with many leadership qualities and is taking his Council to an enviable height. With what he has done and intends to do in line with the directives given to all Transition Committee Chairmen by the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the people of Isialangwa South must be grateful and thankful to Governor Ikpeazu for appointing Chief Ike Anyatonwu to be the Council Chairman. Consequently, other T. C Chairmen are greatly challenged by the modest achievements of Chief IKe Anyatonwu.
To Chief Anyatonwu, it is Bravo! More power to your elbow!
