Well, Uche, those women are doing just what they ought to do, in fact, it behoves on our women to carry out the reconciliation responsibilities, especially at this crucial moment when Abia State needs all hand on the table to enhance and fast-track development. Thank God they realized it on time.
Recall that our Governor had extended the olive branch to every well-meaning Abian to join him develop Abia, so let’s stop attaching political meanings to every move…

The above conversation I had with a colleague instigated my decision to write this piece. Seriously, the time has come for us to lay aside our political narratives of certain issues and confront the enormous task of reconciling with ourselves as the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has, at many fora, encouraged.
In 1995, the United Nation’s Fourth World Conference on women held in Beijing, China created a rippling of new ideas and conversations among women involved in civil society around the world. And the civil-society campaign on women in peacebuilding led to the October 2000 signing of UN Security Council resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security.
Resolution 1325 includes calls for women’s participation in conflict prevention and resolution initiatives; the integration of gender perspectives in peacebuilding and other things.
This resolution has further mobilized women around the world to recognize the important of the roles they play in peace building.
In Abia State, the women, led by the Director General, Abia Women Mobilisation, Chief (Barr.) Mrs. Nnenna Obewu Onwuka has resolved to bridge the gap, between the State Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D and other stakeholders in Abia polity as well as carry the campaign of reelecting Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu in 2019.
These women have been reaching out to front line politicians, Traditional Rulers, women groups and other segments of Abia people and would continue to do more until the dream of voting the Governor again is realized.
It was E. A Reinschmidt who once said “those who make peace bring God in, but those who cause division shut Him out. To bring God in is the most righteous act that any man can perform. To wreck His sanctuary and drive God out is the most wicked thing that any man or devil can do”.
Hence these women deserve commendation and support as they involve in this all important task of making peace in the State and ensuring that the Olive branch extended by the Governor to those who opposed his governorship seat is accepted.
The fact that sustainable peace can only be built through effective partnerships between individuals, communities and others cannot be overemphasised. So, the mobilization should continue as more people are reached.
Of course, with the numerous achievements of the Governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, the 2019 reelection bid is a sure bet!
