TIMAAS CONDEMNS RECENT FRACAS, SAYS OFFICERS DON’T INVOLVE IN EXTORTION

The Traffic and Indiscipline Management Agency Of Abia State (TIMAAS) has condemned in its entirety the fracas that took place in Umuahia which involved its officers and men in Umuahia Command.

A statement by the General Manager of the agency, Comrade Bright C.Ikeokwu said he had met with the leadership of the three Tricycle Unions with the aim of resolving the issues while security agencies have been notified to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly acts are apprehended.

The statement denied that some unscrupulous elements, who are operating and extorting money from the public with the name of the Agency are not staff of TIMAAS.

According to the statement, the staff of TIMAAS are dressed in YELLOW AND BLACK uniform with TIMAAS inscription on it and a name tag, maintaining that
“Anyone operating without this uniform is not working for the Agency and should be arrested.”

“The Agency does not tolerate any form of bribe taking on the road or anywhere else. Anyone seen collecting bribe with the name of TIMAAS should be reported or arrested immediately.

The Agency has never and will never send anyone to collect money from the people on behalf of TIMAAS, the statement added.

Comdrade Ikeokwu, however, warned the officers to remain law abiding, threatening that any officer caught taking bribe or involving in any unprofessional conduct while carrying out his official assignment will be dismissed.

“Furthermore, the activities of some hoodlums operating around Opopo junction area of Aba with the name of TIMAAS has been drawn to the attention of the Agency, very soon they will be apprehended and prosecuted.

“The public are hereby called upon to help the Agency fish out these bad eggs by reporting to the number provided above or to any nearby police station for immediate action,” the statement noted.
