The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Anthony Agbazuere said the State and the world at large need divine intervention as it battles the Coronavirus pandemic.
Agbazuere who made the call during a meeting he held with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Abia State Chapter, at Goverment House, Umuahia, called on church leaders in the State to approach the current pandemic crises with special prayers.
He noted that this present administration in the State believes strongly in the efficacy of prayers of the saints.
The Chief of Staff streessed the need for the church leaders to ensure their members adhere strictly to the preventive measures announced by the government adding that without proper management of the Covid 19, the crises might snowball into an unmanageable situation.
In his speech, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Abia State Chapter, Apostle (Dr.) Emmanuel Agomuo pledged the support of the Christian community in the State to the lockdown policy of Abia State goverment as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
He assured that churches in the State would comply accordingly maintaining that the lockdown is in line with what the scripture says as recorded in book of Isaiah chapter 26 verse 20.
Apostle Agomuo, who regretted the attitude of some Abia people who neglect the preventive measures, streessed the need for the use of the security agencies in the enforcement of the goverment’s order.
He equally made a case for the test kits to be brought to the State and appreciated Governor Ikpeazu’s administration for calling for prayers from the Christian leaders in the State.
In a vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman of CAN in the State, Bishop Godfrey Aluka said the church has been praying for the State and would sustain the prayers, especially in this time of Coronavirus pandemic.
He thanked the Chief of Staff to the Governor for the meeting and assured that Christians in the State would follow goverment’s directives to the later, saying that they would not work in parallel with the State goverment.
The clergy men, who took time to pray for the safety of Abia State and Nigeria in this critical time in history, were presented with packs of sanitizers by the Chief of Staff.
