Abia State Ministry of Environment has informed the public that the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of January would hold tomorrow, Saturday, 25th January 2020 in Abia State between the hours of 9:am and 11:am.
A release signed by the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Solomon Ogunji states that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.
The release adds that the Transition Chairmen of the Local Government Councils, Traditional Rulers,Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders,Youth and women Organizations in the State are required to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise as well as ensure they participate.
Dr. Ogunji, who noted that defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law, further urged the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigeria Security and Civil defence corps to assemble at their usual places of takeoff for deployment.
