The National President, Abia State National Association of North America, Chief Chibuzor Ngwakwe has called on more well-to-do individuals not to wait on the government but to help their community health clinics to implement preventive measures as a complimentary support for the government.
Ngwakwe said most of our hospitals have no Oxygen tanks and other basic materials, insisting on making contributions in any capacity to prepare for preventive measures to help our people.
According to him, “This is a world pandemic episode and we cannot ignore it. We must adopt all necessary preventive measures. I understand our situation but whatever you can donate is acceptable.
I have made personal appeals and this appeal goes to all of us.
“We need basic hand sanitizers, gloves, face masks, oxygen tanks, buckets, towels, and blankets. You and I can do something because, we cannot wish it away,” he added.
He advised the public be safe and protect themselves by practicing frequent hand washing, observing social distancing as well as avoid gatherings for now, including going to church especially in the town, use of hand sanitizers in offices, stores and public transports.
“If you can, avoid public transport or traveling. If you suspect yourself of been sick, go get checked out, do not go home to your family because you may end up infecting your whole family. This is a serious virus and there is no cure but you can keep yourself and your family protected,” Agburike said.
