The people of Abia North Senatorial Zone comprising Arochukwu, Bende, Isuikwato, Ohafia, Ummuneochi today took their turn in the Abia State Free Medical Mission 2020 with the distribution of another 40 mobility carts to the physically challenged and free medical services to the indigines from the three Senatorial zones.
Speaking, Personal Physician to the Governor and Chairman, Medical Mission Dr. Mike Enyinnaya explained that the Governor decided to share the mobility carts, which are donations from Abians in the Diaspora, at the level of senatorial zones as a mark of gratitude and to God who granted the victory.
He explained further “And to add value to the programme, it became appropriate that we incorporate Medical Outreach, free medical services to the Indigines from the three Senatorial zones.
“We want to reach out to populace, screening them for these diseases that cause sudden death, particularly hypertension and diabetes, then we also treat other common diseases like malaria, typhoid, pneumonia. But the emphasis is on dictating these chronic diseases, that cause complications, that eventually lead to sudden death.”
Dr. Enyinnaya praised the achievements of Governor Ikpeazu in the area of health noting that they were exceptional.
In an interview with ABIA ONLINE, the Transition Committee Chairman, Isuikwuato Local Government, Chief Osita Igbe expressed gratitude to the Governor and Abians in the Diaspora for remembering the people of the Zone and Abia in general and prayed for more effort in that regard.
The Facilitator of the Project and Special Adviser to the Governor on Urban and Rural Health Services, Dr. Stella Kamalu expressed satisfaction with the success of the Free Medical Mission in the three Senatorial Districts in the State.
ABIA ONLINE reports that a total of one hundred and twenty mobility carts have been distributed to the physically challenged in the three Senatorial Zones of the State while over one thousand patients were treated in the three day programme.
