Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has expressed his delight that, for the first time in more than 35 years, vehicular transportation along Eziukwu Road to the Eziukwu-Cemetary Market via Ama Ogbonna and No 1 Azikiwe Road is now possible due to the ongoing road construction made possible by his administration in the area.
The Governor observed this at dusk on Tuesday while driving through that road.
However, Gov Ikpeazu’s excitement was short-lived when he noticed Car Wash Spots in the middle of the road, especially around Eziukwu by Azikiwe Road where construction was still ongoing.
He noted with disappointment that despite his administration’s resolve to completely recover the road and make life easier for the people, especially those who do business at the Eziukwu-Cemetary Market, some negligent and wicked individuals are sabotaging the efforts of the government.
According to him, such illegal car wash activities on the road interfere with the work even as earthworks and stone foundations were being done around that location in preparation for asphalting.
Gov Ikpeazu warned, “These acts of sabotage and irresponsibility must stop immediately. The government will unleash its full paraphernalia of law enforcement against any person or group of persons who dares to continue the washing of cars around that area.”
He, therefore, issued an ultimatum ordering that anyone spotted washing automobiles in the area from Wednesday, April 13th, 2022, be arrested immediately and the vehicle detained and confiscated.
The Governor then directed the General Manager of the Abia State Traffic and Indiscipline Management Agency (TIMAAS), as well as the leadership of the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA), to work with the Executive Chairman of Aba South Local Government Area and the Nigeria Police to take immediate action and ensure full, total, and immediate compliance with the directive.
As such, any vehicle impounded as a result of the foregoing will be taken to the Central Police Station Aba and demobilised until further notice.
