The group made this known during a solidarity visit to Prof Ikonne at his residence in Umuahia, where he was described as an experienced administrator with an excellent track record to show.

“In every role, Prof. Uche Ikonne has served the society and the people,” said the organization’s National President, Professor Ogbonna Onuoha, who is also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Abia State University.

He added, “He has always used his inventiveness and excellent developing ideas to reshape such institutions, leaving people wanting more.”

Professors Agu Samuel, Uzoma Uzodady Nwokochah, Eze Ngwkwe, J. U. Ogbonna, Candy Ahuama, and Dr John Chikezie in their goodwill messages, described Ikonne’s political ambitions as auspicious since Abia requires a leader who can build on Governor Ikpeazu’s achievements in the state.

They recalled fond memories of Prof. Ikonne’s exceptional services at Abia State Polytechnic and Abia State University, where he served as Acting Rector and Vice-Chancellor.

They prayed that the God who crowns kings will make Prof Ikonne the Governor of Abia State come 2023.

Professor Ikonne responded by thanking the socio-political group for their consideration and support and reminded them that the path required a team effort.
