ABIA COVID-19 TASKFORCE CLOSES OKIGWE PARK, SHOPS, IMPOUNDS VEHICLES (See Photos)

The Abia State Joint Taskforce on Covid-19 has closed down Okigwe park, Umuahia for flouting the stay-at-home order of the State Government.

The Taskforce equally closed down shops and impounded some vehicles who refused to abide by the State Government’s directive.

Leading the Taskforce is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Homeland Security, Chief Sopuruchi Bekee, in company of the Commissioner for Lands, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu and the Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media and Publicity, Mr Newman Ubani as well as other members of the taskforce including the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, M. A Jatau among other security agencies in the State.

The team, which started at Aba park, popularly known as Ochendo park, moved round Umuahia including Isi-Gate, Owerri road, Uzuakoli road and the streets around them before moving to Abia Tower.

In most of these places, taskforce ensured that closure of shops which opened for business while vehicles loading at various illegal parks were impounded and taken into the custody of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

The team has since taken a little break to resume by evening when it is alleged that people start movements within and outside the State.
