As the race for the governorship of Abia State in 2023 gathers momentum, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has assured that he will maintain a neutral stance in the quest for a successor.
The Governor made this clear during an official visit from the Umuahia South Political Stakeholders forum at Government House Umuahia.
He affirmed that he understands the socio-political needs and challenges of Ndi Abia and will not be deterred into making a decision that will impede the progress his administration has recorded so far.
“Umuahia South Local Government Area has a lot of economic potentials, it would be my joy to connect Nsirimo in Umuahia South with Ntigha in Isiala Ngwa North and also complete the Umuopara Ring Road and other ongoing projects in the area”.
Governor Ikpeazu referenced the notability of the people of Umuahia South local government and their contributions to preserving democracy through successive administrations since 1999.
He applauded the Umuahia South local government stakeholders for their sense of unity and purpose, pointing out his experiences while working with sons and daughters of Umuahia South.
In his appreciation, the Governor described the Stakeholders’ visit as timely and encouraging and further assured that the interest of the people of Abia will remain paramount.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation Chief Tony Ukasanya and the Chairman Umuahia South Stakeholders Forum, Pastor Emeka Inyama said their visit to the Government House was an expression of solidarity with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as one of his strongest allies.
They thanked the Governor for the human capital development recorded through the promotion of Small and Medium Scale Enterprises as well as notable infrastructural developments within the state such as the ongoing construction of Umuopara Ring Road, Old Umuahia Road, expansion of Ubakala Road amongst others.
They assured Governor Ikpeazu of their total support all through his administration and in future endeavours.
In their speeches, the Secretary to Government of Abia State, Barrister Chris Ezem and the Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency, Hon. Jerry Uzosike thanked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for always carrying the people of Umuahia South LGA along in the affairs of government and beseeched him to hasten up the completion of various road projects ongoing in the area.
Other stakeholders who accompanied the team were Arc. Benson Ezem, Hon. Udo Ibeji, Dr Ndukwe Adindu, Sir Tony Ezebuiro, Barrister Balogu, etc.
