ABIA LIFE-ND ROUNDS UP BUSINESS ORIENTATION TRAINING, TAKES PARTICIPANTS ON FARM VISITATION
The six-day Business Orientation Training, organized by the Abia State Coordinating Office of Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises Niger Delta LIFE-ND, for incubators and incubatees has been rounded up with a visitation to one of the integrated farms in the State.
Speaking on the visit, the State Project Coordinator(SPC), Abia State LIFE-ND, Dr. Uchenna Onyeizu, said that the whole essence was for them to have a first hand knowledge of what integrated farming is.
Dr. Onyeizu noted that having put them through cash management, farm records, and what it really takes to run an agro enterprise, the best thing was to take then to an integrated farm to enable see what it looks like.
He confirmed that the next stage would be for the incubatees to be attached to the incubators where they will be trained in their various incubation centres where they will gain hands-on experience and training on basic practices in the agribusiness activity of one’s choice.
He disclosed that, upon graduation, the LIFE-ND project will establish the incubatees to start their own agribusiness entrepreneurship, depending on the agro commodity they choose.
According the SPC, the project will soon start building the facilities for any of the selected communities which donates lands and where documentation process of such lands were completed, indicating that the next batch will begin with the 25 communities in the next few weeks.
Also speaking, the National Agribusiness Promotion Coordinator, Mrs. Anthonia Esinwa pointed out that both incubators and incubatees were on the visit to have a practical experience of what Agribusiness is all about, to see the different value chain that is in agribusiness, and also to make them realize that agriculture is a business that everybody is involved in irrespective of class in society.
On their part the proprietor of Goshen Farms, Obingwa and Elder and Mrs Acho Nwakanma said the farm is poised to give the incubatees posted to them the best training of their lifetime to enable them become great farmers of their time.
ABIA ONLINE gathered that the Incubators and incubatees were taken round the various sections of the farm including the poultry, piggery, goatry as well as oil palm processing section while the participants promised to be committed to realizing the objective of the project.
