Ndi Ngwa it’s Time To Stand to Be Counted
I have refrained from making this a clannish issue, but the way the opposition is going about it we need to segment our audience and properly educate our people on the real issue.
Ndi Ngwa nwem, this election is about our destiny, as a people certain elements from the other parts of our state wants us to believe that we are second-class citizens in our state. We have the population, we have the persons, we have the resources, we have everything to make this a reality.
We thank all those who believe that equity must define our continued co-existence, however for those who think less of us, this is the time to stand up and be counted.
This election in Abia State is not about the person of Dr Okezie Ikpeazu even though in comparison with past governors he has discharged himself so well. This election is about you, the Ngwa old man, old woman, the youth, the children, the unborn generation. We are standing at the threshold of history, to either stand or sink. For many years the Ngwa people have struggled both during the military and civilian regimes to occupy the number 1 seat of the state all to no avail. We have been made to think that we cannot do it, that we are only good for a deputy or assistant position. Ndi K’anyi, the time is now to make a solid statement in the Abia polity.
In the past we have had several deputy governors – Dr Isaac Uzoigwe, Dr Chima Nwafor, Senator Enyi Abaribe, Hon Acho Nwakanma, Col Ananaba we are tired of playing the second fiddle role in a state we have defining strength in number and capacity. Gladly our own son Dr. Ikpeazu has discharged his role as Governor for 3 years plus, irrespective of the distractive legal battles. He has left indelible marks on the sand of time in infrastructure, education, health, social mobilization, youth empowerment, MSMSE, Made in Aba promotion, the Enyimba Economic City must be actualized, the recent deal with the African Development Bank to deliver 500 km of roads across the state within the next 2 years must be concluded. We cannot abandon our son and support those who see us as less.
We must give strength to those our friends, brothers and sisters from Umuahia and Abia North that we stand strongly behind our son Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. This is a make or mar election for the average Ngwa man. We must help convert those brothers and sisters with slave mentality we must make a loud statement with our votes to show that we are a strong nation. We are the largest group in Igbo land, we must for once make this clear electoral statement that we can no longer be taken for granted.
We would have thought otherwise if the other major parties have considered us as human beings by ensuring they produced their candidates from Ngwa land, since they didn’t do that we must with our votes tell them we are not slaves in a state we have contributed immensely to its survival.
We cannot equate the position of Governor to that of deputy or any other position within the state political space. That’s why we must stand behind the PDP, the Umbrella Party for giving us a place in history within the Abia political space.
