The Security Watch Africa, based in South Africa has given Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie an award of the Best Governor on Security Matters.
Receiving the award from the Commissioner of Police, Abia Command, who received the award on behalf of the Governor in far away South Africa, the Governor said he was proud to be awarded, as his government has done well in the area of security, saying that the award represents a call for greater service to the State.
He commended the synergy that exists among security agencies in the State, appreciated their efforts and said that Abia “is secured and perhaps, the only State in Nigeria without oil pipe vandalism” stressing that the security agencies are always on guard in Abia.
Dr. Ikpeazu, who saluted the leadership of the Police for policing well in the State, appreciated their efforts with the sum of #5 million naira with a promise to provide them with Aba-Made boots and uniforms.
He sought continuous co-orperation and understanding among all.
In his speech earlier, the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Laye Oyebade stated that he came to appreciate the State government for providing
communication gadgets to the Police and to present to the Governor, an award of the Best Governor on Security Matters which he received on his
behalf by Security Watch Africa.
He assured that his team will continue to achieve zero tolerance to crime and ensure conducive atmosphere for
investors coming into the State. The Commissioner of Police disclosed that his team has achieved success in combating and reducing heinous
crime in the State. He thanked government for putting in place a robust strategy to reduce problems of herdsmen in the State.
