A clean and serene environment are indispensable for healthy living which of course attracts investment and tourism. To actualize a State to posse such enviable standard; character, finances and political will are necessary sine-qua-non.
Unarguably, most African cities are littered with filth; howbeit, it is not a tale of woes. For instance, Kigali, the capital of Rwanda in Eastern Africa was accessed the third greenest city in the world by the United Nation, a show that it is yet auspicious for Nigeria.
Therefore, it is in the realization of the importance of the benefits of a clean and green State, most especially as a capitalist for Socio-Economic growth that triggered the administration of Dr. Ikpeazu of Abia State, Nigeria to make heavy investment in the sphere of Environmental Sanitation and take decisive measures in a calculated bid to entrench a sparkling State.
Dr. Ikpeazu, having meritoriously served in ASEPA, the Governor is today operating in a familiar turf.
First, the State Government procured and distributed brand new trucks for waste disposal across the three senatorial zones to strengthen and enhance their operation. This approach alone could take the State to the pinnacle of sanity among the comity of States in Nigeria.
Secondly, the State Government has bought into the modern technology in waste management by procuring motorized sweeping machines.
Other landmark achievement of the Governor Ikpeazu which some have not known yet is in road construction. Today, most Abia road constructions are built with pedestrian walkways and bus bays (Bus Stop Curves). While the walkways helps the trekking man with less fear of being knocked down by vehicles, the bus curves will serve as shield to passengers while waiting to board vehicles.
The present Government is well-positioning Abia for greater investment inflow as a conducive climate for business and tourism.
