COVID-19: ABIA INDEX CASE TESTS NEGATIVE TWICE, TO BE DISCHARGED – IKPEAZU
One of the confirmed patients of COVID-19 in the Abia State will soon been discharged from isolation after two consecutive negative test result while the second patient is in stable condition.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu disclosed this in a press briefing at Government House, Umuahia on new developments in the management of Covid-19 pandemic on the State.
Ikpeazu was livid that the patient, who is above 70 years in age and presented with serious underlying medical conditions, is the oldest COVID-19 patient to be discharged in the entire South East and South South Regions.
He noted that the patient has so far certified NCDC Covid-19 condition for discharge as he has been confirmed negative for two consecutive times.
The Governor, while assuring that will Government continues in the effort of tracing contacts, informed that the focus is to ensure that testing of all high risk contacts of both index cases is carried out and expressed hope that they would all return negative.
He pointed out that the pandemic is a clarion call for leaders at all levels to think outside the box as well as leveraging on opportunities brought by the pandemic for alternative means of survival.
