GOVERNMENT AT ALL LEVEL SHOULD CREATE ENABLING ENVIRONMENT FOR BUSINESS TO THRIVE – Governor Ikpeazu

The South East Regional Stakeholders Forum on Ease of Doing Business has been held in Aba, Abia State with a call for government at all levels to create enabling environment for businesses in Nigeria to thrive.

Addressing the audience at Addrex Hotels & Suites, Ogbor Hill Aba, venue of the meeting, the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu urged the co organizers to forward their deliberations on ease of doing business to the federal government.
He said there was need for the federal government to legistilate against bottlenecks that affects business in Nigeria.
Governor Ikpeazu announced that his administration has given opportunity to a private sector which has introduced a scheme on primary healthcare that allows people to access healthcare through mobile phones and encouraged other States to endeavour to create good environment for investors.
Earlier in an address, the Abia State Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu said the summit is apt, given the downturn in the national economy due to the dwindling global crude oil prices and the determination to survive by looking inwards and fashioning out way forward for their economic growth.
He maintained that the forum is a platform for the government and the private sectors to interface and agree on the benchmarks and reforms needed to create the right kind of environment for business and economic growth.
He recalled that the Okezie Ikpeazu led administration has demonstrated leadership prowess in providing the enabling environment for business to thrive in the State and appreciated the Federal government for the initiative.
Also speaking, Prof. Simeon Otuanya encouraged the South East stakeholders to ensure an integrated economy by providing all it takes to make businesses to succeed in the region.
The event attracted stakeholders from all walks of life in the entire South Eastern States.
