It has come to the notice of Government of the activities of some faceless and desperate individuals, who claim to be staff of the Ministry of Agriculture and have established nursery sites of oil palm with uncertified nuts, and selling same to unsuspecting farmers as the improved seedling.
The Ministry of Agriculture, therefore views this as unpatriotic, and an act of sabotage against the laudable oil palm revolution of the present administration.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Ministry is by this announcement stating in clear terms that no individual has its mandate, or in any collaboration with any group/persons in the procurement, raising and sales of the Tenera Oil Palm Seedlings.
(1) That the seedlings at the Ministry’s Headquarters Umuahia have finished, the only government recommended nursery site now for the procurement of improved NIFOR Certified Tenera Species of the oil palm is at Ayaba Umueze Osisioma LGA.
(2) That there is no form of cash transaction with regard to the procurement of the seedling, any form of cash demand should be resisted.
All payment with regard to the seedlings are done in the Bank, and each seedling costs two hundred and fifty Naira.
The general public are by this announcement directed to ensure that they always make their procurement for the improved variety from the Ministry and not from any acclaimed ministry staff or agent.
