GOVERNOR IKPEAZU COMMISSIONS A 100 BED GENERAL HOSPITAL WITH DOCTORS QUARTERS, DONATES N1 M. FOR FREE MEDICAL TREATMENT.

The Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has donated one million naira for free medical treatment for patients that would be treated at General Hospital Mgboko, in Obingwa LGA for the first one month.
The Governor made the donation during the commissioning of the up-graded 100 bedded hospital and Doctors’ quarters, with modern equipment, water and electricity generating plant at General Hospital, Mgboko, Obingwa Local Government Area headquarters.
According to the Governor, any hospital without doctors’ quarters is not complete, disclosing that everything needed in a hospital was available there.
Dr. Ikpeazu stated that such upgrading of hospitals have been replicated in the four General hospitals in the State. He promised to provide 200 thousand naira monthly to the youths of Mgboko for security of the hospital and enjoined them to secure it as well prayed God to heal every patient that would patronise the hospital.
In his speech the Commissioner for Health, Dr. John Ahukanna thanked the Governor for making judicious use of the State funds to upgrade the hospital in line with his campaign promises. He pledged zero tolerance to unethical practices and called on people to bring all their complaints about the hospital to the Ministry of Health as well as encouraged the benefiting communities to protect the hospital. The Commissioner also said that the health sector is in dire need of medical and paramedical staff .
Earlier, the Executive Chairman, Obingwa Local Government Area, Mr. Amaechi Hanson said the essence of healthcare cannot be overemphasized as the hospital would assist the people of the Council in accessing adequate healthcare. He said the hospital would also reduce maternal & child death in the Council and assured that the facilities would be safeguard.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Hospital Management Board, Dr. Reginald Alozie expressed joy that the Governor is tackling the issue of health headlong, saluted him for the ongoing upgrading and equipping of the staff quarters, describing him as a grassrooter. He informed that the cost of the medical care there is highly subsidised by the government.
