It has customary for the wive of the Governor of Abia state to visit hospitals to welcome New Year babies otherwise known as first Baby/Babies of the year every 1st January. In this vein, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, visited the “First Baby Of The Year 2019” in Abia State at the Living Word Mission Hospital, Aba.
The name of the First Baby Of The Year is Master Jidenna Jesse Osondu. Master Osondu, who was born at exactly 1:42 am on the New Year to Mr & Mrs Mathew Osondu from Nsukka in Enugu State, weighed 3kg. Mrs Ikpeazu also visited another hospital at Osisioma where another male and female twins were born at 4am on the New Year.
On top that, the Wife of the Governor and a woman with milk of human kindness later proceeded to the SDA motherless babies home In Aba, where she celebrated the New Year with the orphans there; she as well paid hospital bills of patients who had been discharged but had no money to offset their hospital bills.
During the visit as usual, Mrs Ikpeazu presented several material gifts to the new born babies, paid their hospital bills and also made cash donations to the parents of the babies.
The wife of the Governor, who described children as gifts from God urged them to bring up the children in the fear of the Lord and teach them the virtues of hard work and love for others, stressing that, when parents bring their children up in the fear of the Lord, the children would grow to be good citizens who would ultimately contribute to the betterment of the society. She also used the occasion to call on parents to consider the task of proper upbringing of their children as a sacred responsibility given to them by God and entire society.
The Wife of the Governor expressed hope that the coming of New Year Baby signifies greater good things that will come to the people of Abia State in 2019 and prayed that the joy of every family living in Abia State would be complete in 2019 through the mercies of the Lord.
It is obvious that by fulfilling this annual ritual of visiting the new born on a New Year day and presenting them with gifts, God will bless her, her family and the administration of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu and grant them and entire Abians success in the forthcoming elections.
It is OVI till 2023!!!
