IKPEAZU COMMISSIONS FREEDOM WORD MISSION HOSPITAL AND DIAGNOSTIC CENTER, ABA
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has officially declared the Freedom Word Mission Hospital and Sofa Diagnostic Center, Aba, open in a commissioning ceremony held Sunday.
At the commissioning, Gov Ikpeazu commended the General Overseer of Freedom Word Assembly International, Pastor Ugoh Akwarandu for his intervention in the health sector leading to the establishment of the Freedom Word Mission Hospital and Sofa Diagnostic Center, Omni Drive, Abayi, Aba.
He praised the church for its efforts in complementing his administration’s commendable contributions in the health sector, saying, “with this move, you are not only boosting members’ spiritual content, but also advancing society’s understanding through quality education, and the healthy living of Abia people”.
Governor Ikpeazu said that with the commissioning of the health facility equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, Pastor Ugoh Akwarandu is following in the footsteps of his late father, who dedicated his life to building multiple hospitals despite not being a medical practitioner.
The Governor who noted that his administration recently built, furnished and commissioned the first-ever Children’s Specialist Hospital in the South East in addition to the ongoing building of a Medical Village in Aba with a Heart and Kidney Centre, noted that the health of the people of Abia State will remain a top priority to his administration.
Pastor Akwarandu explained that his desire to create the Mission Hospital was prompted by a bad health experience he had previously, adding that “the church is committed to the service of humanity and this hospital has come to fill the gap in the provision of quality, accessible and affordable health care services to all Abians irrespective of class.”
He applauded Governor Ikpeazu for completing the road leading to the hospital and church which was one of his first road projects in 2015.
The highlight of the occasion came when the Governor cut the ribbon to formally commission the Hospital and the Diagnostic Centre and was then led on a tour of the medical facilities.
Several dignitaries, including members of the State Assembly representing Osisioma Ngwa South, Hon. Nnamdi Allen Nwachukwu, Aba North State State Constituency, and Hon. Aaron Uzodike, Aba Central State Constituency, accompanied the Governor to the ceremony.
Others were Hon. Abraham Oba, the Commissioners for Health, Information, and Transportation, Chief Godswill Uche Nwanoruo, Science and Technology, Chief Okezie Erondu, Sports, and Hon. Udo Ibeji, among others.
