To ensure lasting peace in Isu community, Arochukwu LGA, Senator representing Abia North, Sen. Mao Ohuabunwa, Abia SSG Dr. Eme Okoro, Abia State Commissioner for Boundary affairs and conflict resolution, Chief Obike Mascot , paid a visit to Isu.

The visit was to get first hand information over the recent communal clash between Isu community and their neighbouring community of Utuma,Cross River State which recorded loss of lives and properties of Isu indigenes.
While addressing the displaced people of Isu, the delegation assured the people of the readiness of the State and Federal government to assist in making sure peace is restored. Sen. Mao assured that deliberation on the matter will continue at the floor of the senate on Wednesday. He called on the National Emergency Agency (NEMA) to make sure the Isu displaced persons are properly taken care of.
According to the Senator “I have moved a motion of urgent importance over the recent incident, deliberation will continue on Wednesday so that Federal Government will come to their aid in rebuilding the houses and find a lasting solution”
In their separate remarks, Secretary to the State Government,Dr.Eme Okoro, Commissioner for Boundary Affairs and Conflict Resolution, Chief Mascot Imo Obike, said that Abia State Government is liaising with her neighbouring Cross River to make sure the matter is settled. The commissioner assured that both States will be meeting with boundary commission so as to find a lasting solution.
From the feelers on ground, the clash is over a large deposit of limestone at the area. It was also gathered that a cement company has already made a move to develop the site.
Isu community claimed that their neighboring Cross Riverians cannot cross their boundary that is naturally demarcated by water to come over and claim their land now that there is an economic value.
As seen on ground, while the delegation was making their way to the Isu community, the neighbouring Cross river community had invaded the entire Isu community, blocked access to the clash site with trees, which makes it difficult for the people of Isu to evacuate the remaining corpses for burial. Purely a well design strategy to take over the entire community.
Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, SSG, Dr.Eme Okoro,Commissioners, Hon.Imo Obike, Barr.Gabe Iboko, Executive Chairman of Arochukwu, Hon.Ojieke Kalu, Chief Eric Kalu Aso, Director of protocol, Mr Ben Ononogbu, other aides of the Governor and Stakeholders were on the entourage.
Relief materials were presented to the displaced people after paying a courtesy call on the Traditional Ruler of the Isu Ancient Kingdom, HRM.Eze Dr.Eze Ogbonnaya.
