MRS IKPEAZU BUILDS MARKET STALLS, GIVES SEED MONEY TO RURAL WOMEN FOR BUSINESS

The wife of Abia Governor, Her Excellency, Dr. (Mrs.) Nkechi Ikpeazu, has built 3 block of 20 rooms space market stalls, each with reticulated water supply at Ahiama Obete Ukwu Ibeme, Ahia Eke Amaude in Onicha Ngwa and another market stall in Umuohia, Ahiaba, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The purpose for building the market, the Governor’s wife said is to enhance the business activities for traders so that the traders will find it convenient to offer their wares to customers.

Mrs. Ikpeazu also expressed that Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s interest is to establish a marketing environment convenient enough for Abia women to support the economic wellbeing of their families hence the empowerment given to local traders such as cash and material grant at every market built.

According to her “we have provided these grants through the AWADEC loan scheme graciously as approved by the Governor, this loan scheme she noted is without interest but beneficiaries are expected to repay the loan so that others can assess the fund” she said.

However, the Governor’s wife advised the women to make use of the facilities, take proper care of their health and ensure that their wards goes for genotype test before getting married to avoid bearing children with sickle cell disease.

In their remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Nnenna Urenta, and the Deputy Chairman, Obingwa LGA, Mrs. Uloma Ikpeazu, commends Mrs. Ikpeazu for also donating 50 wrappers to the rural women and supporting them in contributing to the economic wellbeing of their families.
