1. The Chairman of Air Peace Nigeria, Allen Onyema, was yesterday at the House of Representatives to interact with the lawmakers on his role in providing free air flights to Nigerians in South Africa. He was supposed to be in the House on Tuesday, but the speaker had explained that he was unable to make it due to some reasons. Leader of the House, Ado Dogwa, this morning moved a motion that Chief Allen Onyema be admitted into the House, citing Order 19 rules 8 sub 2 of the standing rules of the House

2. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday in Abuja, approved the extension of the tenure of seven retiring Permanent Secretaries for a period of one calendar year with effect from Oct. 1. The affected Permanent Secretaries are: Mrs Georgina Ehuriah – Ministry of Interior, Mrs Ifeoma Anagbogu – Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Grace Gekpe – Federal Ministry of Information and Culture. Others are Dr Umar Bello – Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Suleiman Lawal – Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Comfort Ekaro – Federal Ministry of Water Resources. Mr Olusegun Adekunle would serve as Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation

3. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has announced that customers making cash deposits or withdrawals will pay charges beginning from Tuesday September 17, 2019 in line with its new policy. The objective of the transaction fees is to give vent to the Central Bank’s policy designed to reduce cash in use. The apex bank said the transactions will attract three per cent processing fees for withdrawals and two per cent processing fees for lodgments above N500, 000 for individual accounts.

4. The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has been accused of being behind the moves that ensured the chairmanship of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, went to Edo State instead of Ondo State. Multiple sources who claimed to be aware of the horse-trading that resulted in the announcement of former Deputy Governor of Edo State under Oshiomhole, Dr. Pius Odubu as Chairman of the NDDC board revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari had planned to ensure the Chairmanship position went to Ondo State, with Mr. Sola Oke as the most likely choice of Governor Rotimi Akerodolu for the position.

5. President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday removed the Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita. She was suspended indefinitely. Buhari also named Folashade Yemi-Esan as the acting head of service with immediate effect. This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Willie Bassey, Director Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

6. The second batch of Nigerian returnees fleeing from xenophobic attacks in South Africa arrived in Nigeria on Wednesday. The returnees were aided by the Federal Government with the assistance of a Nigerian carrier, Air Peace. The B777 aircraft, with registration number 5N-BWI, which departed Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, landed at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 7.22 p.m. President Muhammadu Buhari will undertake a State Visit to South Africa in October.

7. The Rivers Security Council on Wednesday said it was working round the clock to ensure that the recent killings of young women in the state was stopped. Dr Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the State Government gave the assurance and also warned that perpetrators would be made to face the full weight of the law. He stated that the State Security Council led by Gov. Nyesom Wike had put measures in place to secure the lives of young women targeted by the serial killers.

8. The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Niger State, on Wednesday threw out the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Umar Nasko, against Governor Abubakar Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The PDP and its candidate are challenging Bello’s victory in the recently held governorship election. They claim he submitted forged certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The Justice John Igboji-led tribunal, while dismissing the petition, said it constitutes an abuse of court process, because it had been heard and decided by a Federal High Court. Consequently, the Tribunal upheld the Preliminary Objection of the 2nd Respondent (APC) against the Petition of Umar Nasko and the PDP.

9. The National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia on Wednesday dismissed the petition against the Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, challenging his re-election as senator for Abia South. The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and its candidate, Mr Chris Nkwonta, had approached the court to nullify the declaration of the Abaribe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as winner of the Feb. 23 poll on the ground that it was marred with irregularities. The tribunal held that if the number of over-voting claimed by the petitioners was removed from the figure with which Abaribe was declared winner, he would still maintain a reasonable margin of lead over the petitioners.

10. The Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu on Wednesday, revealed that a former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, has a case to answer over the Settlement Agreement on Malabu Oil Block (OPL 25).

Magu said that Adoke has been offering the reading public in the account of his sojourn in governance a bouquet of half-truths and plain lies.
