….says relationship with Fed. law makers cordial.
The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo has commended the leadership style of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, saying that he has brought intellectualism and thoroughness to governance.
Chief Onuigbo made the commendation while interacting with press men in Umuahia. He said all projects the Governor started and completed are always reference points. He lauded the Governor for taking steps to initiate and pursue the establishment of Enyimba Economic City, an economic zone which, when realized, has the potentials of providing over 700 thousand jobs for the youths.
According to him, Governor Ikpeazu has brought Industries back to track and promoted SMEs in the State. He recalled that the regional administration in the country empowered various regions to develop and said there was need to review the constitution to favour true federalism.
The National Assembly member disclosed that the relationship between Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and the Federal law makers are cordial and that Governor Ikpeazu has been very responsive and supportive in the requests coming from members of the National Assembly as it concerns developmental projects in the State.
In his words, “the Governor has been responsive. We have a cordial,harmonious and a productive relationship.” He cited instances where the collaboration and harmonous relationship have attracted road and infrastructural development to the State, from the federal government, particularly in the award of the ongoing rehabilitation of Umuahia – Ikot-Ekpene road, in his constituency, as well as securing of a parcel of land within Ekeoba Public Building Layout, Umuahia for the construction of Federal Secretariat in Abia State among others.
He noted that the Governor’s efforts in the fight of the Covid-19 pandemic in the State is commendable, saying that “the importance of having these test centres, laboratories and isolation centres, can never be over-emphasized. He therefore opined that what the Governor has earned for himself is commendation. According to him,”the Governor has done well because without these molecular laboratories, you will probably not know who is in what state of health, especially, since Covid-19 virus is not written on anybody’s face. So I think it is something worthy of commendation and emulation.”
Chief Onuigbo said there is peace, progress and stability in the State.This peace, according to him, has helped the State to move forward and get things done, “wherever there is absence of peace and harmony, you can hardly achieve anything. There is peace and stability and it has helped the State to move forward.” He attributed the peace to the manner the Governor carries people along in his administration.
The Federal law maker, who urged the Governor to continue to expand the sources of revenue of the State and improve on industrial harmony in the State, called on Nigerians to take the fight against Covid-19 pandemic seriously. He also enjoined Abians and other residents,in the State, to be supportive of the Governor to ensure he succeeds in office.
