#PHOTOS: BE STRATEGIC IN THE PURSUIT OF YOUR POLITICAL INTERESTS – Gov Ikpeazu To Ohafia Udumeze

The governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has advised the political leadership in Ohafia South State Constituency to engage in strategic politics rather than be used to accomplish petty political goals in the state.

Gov Ikpeazu made the statement at the Governor’s Lodge in Aba while playing host to a group of Ohafia Udumeze elders from the Ohafia South State Constituency, who had come to pay him a solidarity visit.

The Governor challenged the delegation to assert their natural leadership in the area by pursuing their distinct political goals while refusing to be sucked into a scheme that would jeopardize their long-term interests.

He took the opportunity to thank the people of Ohafia Udumeze and Ohafia LGA as a whole for their support to his administration, adding that he is the only Governor in the State since 1999 to have spent almost two terms with one Deputy Governor who is a son of Ohafia LGA.

While reiterating his commitment to meeting the yearnings of Abia indigenes, Gov Ikpeazu assured that one of his most enduring legacies to the people of Ohafia Udumeze would be the completion of the Ohafia Ring Road.

The governor announced that as the 2023 campaigns heat up, the people of Ohafia Udumeze would take the lead in charting a course that will assure peace and stability in Abia State.

In separate speeches, the delegation’s leader and current Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Asiforo Ifeanyi Uchendu, a former Member of the State Assembly from Ohafia South, Chief Mba Ukaha, a well-known businessman from Ohafia, Chief Udensi Ekea, a Traditional Ruler and Chairman of the Ohafia Council of Ndi Eze, Eze Odum Amaogu, thanked the Governor for keeping faith with their people by appointing two of their illustrious sons, Chief Kingsley Imaga and Comrade Chidiebere Uwagwu, as Honorable Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council, as well as their son, Chief Olugu Kalu Ugba, as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor.

They also urged the Governor to reconsider the Ohafia Ring Road project, while expressing gratitude for his approval of the contract for the road to Okon Aku.

They gave the Governor a resounding vote of confidence and promised him their maximum support in the 2023 election.

ABIA ONLINE reports that a former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. D K Uduma, former Executive Chairman of the Council, Engr. John Eke Njoku, and a University don, Professor Dick Uduma, were among the notable Ohafia indigenes that attended the ceremony.
