STARTING THE YEAR WITH SHOWING LOVE: NKECHI IKPEAZU’S EXAMPLE
Just on the New Year Day, it was widely reported that the Wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu in her usual magnanimity visited babies of the year. Ordinarily, other wives of Governors would only visit a baby of the year, that is one baby.
However, for Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, a woman with the Midas Touch, her’s is different; she takes delight in humanitarian services, even before her husband’s emergence as Governor. Hence, apart from visiting the First Baby and of course babies of the year 2019 on January 1st in Abia State which took place at Living Word Mission Hospital, Aba and the SDA Motherless Babies Home in Aba, where she equally celebrated the New Year with the orphans there, Mrs Ikpeazu did not visit without exhibiting her kindness to them. She presented several gifts to the new born babies and paid their hospital bills as well as donated cash to the parents of the babies.
In the same spirit of love and tender mercies, and as one poised to do more in the days and years ahead, the wife of the Governor yesterday, visited another set of new year babies. This time around, they are triplets. The triplets are baby girls born on 1st Jan by Esther Ogadinma Ella, at Nkechi Colwell Methodist Hospital lomeyi, Umuimeyi in Bende Local Government Area of the State.
The mother of the triplets already had 4 girls, probably in search for a baby boy took in again and was blessed with triplets.
The pitiable aspect of the mother of these triplets is that the woman had remained in the hospital since she delivered the triplets as she could not settle the hospital bills because of her husband’s ill health. On receiving the information, the kind-hearted Abia Governor’s wife, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu decided to visit and settle the hospital bills as well as take care of the babies.
Of course, this is what governance should be; taking care of the electorates, especially, those ones who cannot help themselves.
It is no longer news that the wife of the Governor has been in the vanguard of caring for the indigent, widows and orphans in Abia State. This is why, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who is popularly known as the ‘Common Governor For The Common People’ of Abia State will certainly be returned to continue the good works God is using him and the wife to do for Abia people and residents.
In order to allow this humanitarian services and other democracy dividends in Abia State to be sustained, there is need for all and sundry to work towards ensuring the re-election of the visionary, amiable and performing Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D. OVI till 2023.
