The commissioner of transport, Barr. Mrs. Nnenna Obewu has reiterated the need for sanity to be restored in the sector in the State.
The Transport Boss, said that her ministry will not shy away from the responsibilities of making sure the sector is sanitized from all aspects of bribery, intimidation and other corrupt practices.
In strong terms, she said that it’s not going to be business as usual. The ministry has set up a mobile court and at same time is collaborating with the Commissioner of Police to make sure every directive from the ministry is followed accordingly.
According to her, Transporters have to be aware of some of the guidelines, they must get operational permit, root permit, loading bay approval so as to be able to operate where approval has been given.
Originally, Milverton is not meant for loading, but for booking. Loading on the streets must stopped in Abia State.
Loading passengers at filling stations is hazardous and highly prohibited and these must be adhered strictly to.
All buses going to Lagos, Abuja at Milverton Aba road, should be moved to Aba were Government already provided a big park (ochendo) and Hummer buses are to be moved first.
The meeting held at the ministry of transport hall today and was graced by the presence of the S.A. to the Governor on Transport Matters and other Committee Members.
Representatives of Gallopine motors, Adam&Eve, Prime time motors, Nana motors and others were present at the meeting.
