Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has made it clear that his administration will at all times welcome initiatives and partnerships with external agencies that can be of benefit to the people of Abia State.
The Governor stated this yesterday at the Governor’s Lodge Aba while receiving a delegation from the Africa-Korea Development Association (AKEDA) which paid him a courtesy visit.
Governor Ikpeazu also said that he believes that one the key responsibilities of government in today’s world is to ensure that a level playing field is provided that will enable interested persons who have valuable contributions to take part in the economic development of their area.
Ikpeazu told the group that Abia State is a home for business with a large catchment population of willing and able entrepreneurs in any area of business. He thanked the delegation for their visit and urged them to feel free to make any inquiries about business opportunities in the state. He particularly thanked the Chairman of the Nigerian branch of the Association, Hon Yuccee Uwah for playing a key role in building this new partnership, hailing him for putting his home state, first.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the delegation and Secretary General of AKEDA, Mr. Siwoo Chung thanked the Governor for granting them audience at a shirt notice and told the Governor that they are interested in establishing fruitful business relationships with the business community in Abia State.
He told the Governor that AKEDA is a private sector membership association with over 100 leading conglomerates in various sectors of the Korean economy dedicated towards strengthening economic development between Korea and African countries. They are present in 18 countries in Africa and are interested in areas like Power, new city development, tourism, construction, solid minerals, pharmaceuticals, plastic recycling, leather products recycling, etc.
He also told the Governor that they are interested in facilitating economic, educational and cultural exchanges that will promote the training of Abia youths in critical areas that can help them towards self reliance.
He noted that they chose Abia as their first port of call in Nigeria owing to the prominence the State enjoys in the area of promotion of business in Nigeria and specifically told the Governor that they are very interested in the Enyimba Economic City Project.
