The Executive Chairman of Umuahia South Local Government Area Engr Dr. Hon. Humphrey C. Benson has informed that one of the duties of the Local Government chairmen in the state is to debunk the falsehood being peddled by the opposition elements in Abia state. He stated this when the body of Advisers of Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Ubakala Council headquarters as part of the ongoing Projects Affirmation tour embarked by the body.
Earlier in his introduction , the chairman of the body of Advisers and leader of the delegation , Honorable Collins Nwakanma, informed the mayor of Umuahia North that the body was in Umuahia south to affirm the Infrastructural provisions by the rebuilder Governor, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu PhD. Stating that as, “the human bank of the Governor”, the Advisers have a duty to validate claims of infrastructure provided in all parts of the state as being currently showcased in the rebuilder365 documentary series. He therefore stressed that so far the body is satisfied with what they have seen in few of the projects already visited in Osisioma,Isiala Ngwa South and North while reiterating that the giant Infrastructural strides of the Governor is not disputable hence “Governor Ikpeazu is indeed a quintessential rebuilder”.
Hon Nwakanma also intimated the Council Chairman that the ongoing Projects Affirmation tour will take the body to the three geopolitical zones of Abia state beginning from Abia Central. He therefore applauded the Chairman for the lock up shop edifice ongoing in front of the council headquarters urging him to keep up the good work,maintening that he has evinced that some of the local government chairmen are not “arm chair chairmen” but persons devoted to service in line with Governor Ikpeazu’s vision. He took a swipe on the non- performing chairmen imploring them to take a cue from the chairman of Umuahia South . He equally used the opportunity to inform that the body will visit some project sites in the local government and Abia central before leaving for other geopolitical zones.
Conducting the body round the ongoing shopping mall, at the council headquarters, the Chairman informed the Advisers that the edifice houses a 56 standard lock up shops. Pointing that, apart from the Ubakala lock up shops, a similar project of 40 lock up shops is also ongoing in Umuopara Umuahia . Stressing, that his preoccupation, as a leader, is to give his people the best service he could, maintaining that, as a practicing Engineer, he has knack for quality and infrastructural development hence he takes special interest on the project ensuring that everything is done to specification and quality assurance.
Responding to newsmen during the inspection tour of the Mgbarakuma Ring road and the Ubakala- Old Umuahia road,the special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government / Chieftaincy Affairs and the coordinator of the OVI body of Advicers (Abia Central), Engr Austin Uchenna Stephen, informed the body that the Mgbarakuma Ring road,as well as the very Strategic Ubakala- Old Umuahia roads, are signature projects of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in Umuahia south LGA and Abia central geopolitical zone, maintaining that “the people of Ubakala and the zone have not been so favoured as the Ikpeazu’s Government’ . He consequently called on the people of Abia central to reciprocate the Governor’s good gestures by ensuring that PDP clinches all electoral seats come 2023.
Present at the tour was the Secretary of the body and the Special Adviser on Boundary matters Chief Mascot Imo- Obike, Arc Chris Nwosu an indigene of Ubakala , Dr Collins Ugochikwu Obi Special Adviser on Police Relations, Lady Joy Dimanochie special Adviser on Women Affairs and other special Advisers to Governor Ikpeazu .
