ABIA TO HOST SOUTHERN GOVERNORS WIVES SUMMIT.

Abia State is to play host to the fourth quarterly meeting of the 17 Southern Gover­nors Wives’ Forum scheduled for February 15 – 17, 2017.
A press release by Mr Eze Ajuzie, the Chief Press Secretary to the wife of the Governor of Abia State, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu said all 17 First Ladies in the Southern Nigeria were expected to be at the summit.
The release which was obtained by The AU­THORITY in Umuahia yesterday read in part: “These women of substance will converge on Umuahia on the platform of the Southern Governor’s Wives Forum to brainstorm on women development issues, uplift­ment of the girl-child and how to support the Governors of Southern Nigeria to develop our nation and make Nigeria one unified country of love and hope.
“Highlights of the three-day event will be a courtesy call on the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, series of high-powered meetings, and the empowerment of hundreds of indigent women of Abia.”
The release further iden­tified the objectives of the forum as “a mechanism to strongly support the pro­grammes and activities of the Wife of the President of Nigeria; to comple­ment the giant strides of the Southern Governors for the overall development of our society; and to promote unity and peace­ful co-existence among the Southern States of Nige­ria.”
