Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has commended the Executive Chairman of Isialangwa North, Chief Ginger Onwusibe for empowering the youths with skill acquisition.
The Governor was speaking at the Fourth Otawaike Annual Convention held at Amapu-Ntigha Primary School, where the youths who acquired the skills were showcased and empowered. He assured the graduands of the Youth Empowerment Scheme of the Isialangwa North LGA Chairman that Abia State government will purchase with five hundred thousand naira each, the products of the first ten persons among them.
He further urged people to encourage those who have acquired the skills by patronising them as government alone cannot support them.
The Governor, who recommended such dimension of empowerment to all people, said there was need for skill acquisition among youths and enjoined other Local Government Area Chairmen to emulate what their colleague has done in the area of youth empowerment.
He also lauded Ginger Onwusibe for adopting and building a four class room primary school block, purchasing grader for rural roads grading among others.
Also speaking separately, the Senator representing Abia Central Zone, Chief T. A. Orji, the Member representing Isialangwa North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Darlington Nwokocha and the Chairman of the occasion, Engr. Enyinnaya Nwafor appreciated the empowerment programme and other achievements of Chief Ginger Onwusibe in his Local Government Area and said they would support him.
They called for continuous support of the Governor of the State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu and the LGA Chairman, Chief Ginger Onwusibe.
Speaking earlier, the Executive Chairman, Isialangwa North LGA, Chief Ginger Onwusibe appreciated the Governor and said the programme was an annual one put together to empower 220 youths in the Council and commission some projects embarked upon by him which include a mini stadium, class room block and grader.
He assured the Governor of the continuous support of the LGA, especially his re-election bid in 2019.
