GOVERNOR IKPEAZU’S FORMER LECTURER LAUDS HIM, SAYS HE IS BRILLIANT
The newly appointed Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu and former Lecturer to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Tor Tiv, Prof. James O. I Ayase has lauded Governor Ikpeazu, describing him as a very brilliant person.
Prof. Ayase, a first class Traditional Ruler and erudite scholar was speaking in the Banquet Hall of Government House, Umuahia while being hosted for a dinner by his former student and Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu as part of activities marking his official installation as the Chancellor of Abia State University.
The Chancellor, who doubles as the Chairman, Benue State Traditional Rulers Council said he was proud of the rising profile of Dr. Ikpeazu saying that he is one of the few Governors in Nigeria who holds Ph.D.
Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayase expressed his gratitude to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for bestowing on him the Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu. According to him, the honour will strengthen the long existing relationship between Abia State and Benue State. He equally said that the honour will not be taken for granted, hence, he will do everything within his powers to ensure that the Governor’s invitation will not be in vain.
The Chancellor who described the Governor as a bridge builder, called on others to emulate Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who he testified was a very bright student of his.
Responding, Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu says the newly appointed Chancellor of the school is an upright and highly respected personality and experienced academic, expressing confidence on his ability to redefine the shape of the Abia citadel of learning.
Governor Ikpeazu informed the Chancellor of some of the progress his administration has made in Abia State, which includes, feeding school pupils from primary one to six against the Federal Government’s system of feeding Primary one to three , engaging more than 5 thousand women who cook for the pupils and enhancing their economic life through that, unprecedented increase in public school enrollment, building of four model schools, renovation of over 300 school blocks amongst others. He said under his watch, Abia students has maintained the lead in WAEC examinations for four consecutive times.
Governor Ikpeazu equally informed the new Chancellor of the success story of Abia State University, Uturu, stressing that the institution has not interrupted its academic calendar for the past three years as the management has been doing very well.
According to the Governor, Professor Ayase remains a source of inspiration to him and attributed his success in life and academics to the great influence the royal father had on him as his former student and thanked him for accepting to be the Chancellor of the university.
