MONTHLY SANITATION EXERCISE HOLDS THIS SATURDAY IN ABIA STATE
Abia State Ministry of Environment says the monthly sanitation exercise for the month of February would hold this Saturday, 29th February 2020 in Abia State between the hours of 9:am and 11:am.
A release signed by the State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Solomon Ogunji states that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemptions.
The Commissioner in the release demands that the Transition Chairmen of the Local Government Councils, Traditional Rulers,Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders,Youth and women Organizations in the State to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise as well as ensure they participate.
Dr. Solomon Ogunji, who noted that defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia State Basic Environmental Law, further urged the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigeria Security and Civil defence corps to assemble at their usual places of takeoff for deployment. He also enjoined all markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises to remain closed on Friday, February 28, 2020 between the hours of 7am and 9am to carry out their own clean-up exercise.
