The residents of Uhie (Obingwa West) have been reminded by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu that their community’s development and infrastructure renewal are in their hands.
Governor Ikpeazu who spoke during a meeting with some key political leaders and people of Obingwa West State Constituency described the people of Uhie as “politically savvy” and reminded them that they have complete control over who they elect as their representative.
Throwing more light on the mission, the delegation’s leader and former Chairman of Obingwa LGA, Chief Chidiebere Ihenyirimadu (Jato) told the Governor that the leaders and entire people of Uhie have endorsed Chief Erondu as their consensus candidate for the election, citing his record of positive interventions in the lives of his people as unprecedented in their history.
Chief Ihenyirimadu further highlighted, “Erondu has graduated from the Ikpeazu School of Politics and Administration and as such, no one other than him will be able to occupy their Assembly position.”
He told the Governor that Erondu had built and donated 32 houses for various people across Obingwa West’s six political wards, a feat they had never witnessed before.
In delight, Governor Ikpeazu told the delegation that through his late mother, maternal grandmother and paternal grandmother who were all from Uhie, he is partly from Uhie and as such will be interested in what happens there politically.
While receiving Obingwa West’s preferred choice for Representative, Governor Ikpeazu described Chief Erondu as a dedicated and experienced person with whom he shares a long term relationship.
His Excellency assured that once Erondu receives full support from the people of Uhie he is sure that the candidate will do well.
Chief Ezinwa Abiri corroborated by telling Gov Ikpeazu that Erondu is unrivalled in terms of political experience, reach, and contacts. He insists that Erondu’s level of experience in politics and administration will serve as powerful tools in establishing him as a State Legislator for the benefit of the people of Uhie.
Mrs Ezinwanyi Jonah, who spoke on behalf of the women, hailed the acts of philanthropy exhibited by Erondu for the welfare of women in their community.
“Erondu has built houses for them and assisted them in starting companies, and as a result, the entire women of Uhie are firmly behind his ambition.”
The event’s highlight was the handing over of the aspirant to the Governor by Pastor Rowland Nwosu, a seasoned politician and one of Obingwa politics’ most recognized figures, who told the Governor that they were confident that Erondu would be a good spokesperson for them.
