Treaders in both Opobo and Umuode Markets were Friday visited with lots smiles and dancing by the Each One Aid One Foundation in conclusion of their ‘Business Support for Petty Traders’ Project.’
The traders were greeted with cash gifts and umbrellas as part of the project to enable them get coverage against the scorching sun and rains as the case may be.
Addressing the traders, the Programme Coordinator, Prince A. A. Abu, informed them that Foundation has a target to support about 2000 petty traders across 26 different Markets in Abia State.
Prince Abu added that the support was meant for traders who have no shade or shop but rather display their wares on table under the sun and in the rain, to enable them scale up their trades.
According to him, the Chairman of the Foundation, Engr. Sir. Nwafor Enyinnaya was touched by the fact that they have lost their little capital in the event of the lockdown occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic and wants to encourage them through the provision of umbrellas to protect them against the scorching sun and rain as well as cash gifts for those who need just a little cash to sustain their trade.
He maintained that the exercise was in line with the Foundation’s mantra of bringing hope to the hopeless, disclosing that the Foundation would conduct periodic monitoring and evaluation, where those that do better will be encouraged with more cash support to boost their business.
The Coordinator enjoined beneficiaries to make judicious use of the cash gifts, which he said was not meant for frivolities but to be used as capital for their small trades while they are to always hang the umbrellas over their heads.
In their separate responses, some the beneficiaries said their joy knew no bounds as regards the gesture done them by the Each One Aid One Foundation.
Those of them who spoke with ABIA ONLINE expressed excitement that the umbrella would go along way to protect them against the scorching sun and from being drenched by rains and prayed God to bless the Foundation and grant the Chairman of the Foundation, Sir Nwafor all his heart desires.
ABIA ONLINE gathered that the Each One Aid One Foundation team has already visited so many other Markets across Abia State with the distribution of cash gifts and umbrellas to petty traders as part of effort to support them boost their trades.
