Late Elder Fred Chigbunta Chigbu of Umuafor village in Osusu Amaukwa Autonomous community of Obingwa Local Government Area has been described as a moral compass and beacon of rectitude who treated his relations with love and support as well as desired success for all.

The Governor of Abia State Dr Okezie Ikpeazu was speaking at the funeral service of the late nonagenarian conducted by the Seventh- Day adventist church at Osusu Amaukwa model school.

The Governor noted that the deceased lived a life of service to his people, adding that he was not only contented with what he had but was also ready to give his all.

He thanked God for a worthy uncle and a man who lived well pointing out, that the life of the deceased taught him profound lessons.

He urged those he left behind to continually uphold his sterling legacies so that generations yet unborn will fondly remember him and prayed God to lay in our hearts to number our days and be contented with what we have.

In a sermon on the topic: “How to Number Our Days”, the President, Eastern Nigeria Union Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Pastor Bassey Udoh who took his text from Psalm 90:12, said when we make God the light in our path, we are numbering our days well.

Pastor Udoh enjoined Christians to allow God’s word to abide in them to guide their steps pointing out that those who live well, will die well.

In a funeral oration, the first Son of the deceased, Mr. Chingoziri Chigbu described his father as a teacher with great passion, an epitome of peace.

Mr. Chigbu said his late father believed so much in Brotherhood, and also contributed immensely to the development of Umuafor Village and Osusu Amaukwa Community in general and regretted that his demise has created a huge vacuum that would be difficult to be filled.

ABIA ONLINE reports that the Governor was accompanied to the funeral by his wife, Dr Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, with the state PDP Chairman Chief Asiforo Okere, members of the state Executive council, the immediate past commissioner for Trade and Investment Dr Cosmos Ndukwe among other distinguished Abians in attendance.
