REDEFINING NIGERIANS POLITICS; IKPEAZU’S STYLE.
In recent days, federal govt executives have been trooping to Abia to hold/attend one event or the other. The star studded list includes Acting President Osibanjo, Minister of Health, Minister of Works, Minister of Labour, Minister of Trade, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Solid Mineral, Minister of Information, ICPC Chairman, IGP, Chief of Army staff etc.
One common thread is that all the visitors were welcomed and treated well without exception. Not even one of the visits featured political party slogan shouting crowds and the only sign of partisan politics difference is probably the ever present PDP flag in front of the Governor’s official car.
It is safe to say that not even APC states in the south have welcomed as many Federal executives as Abia, to date.
Yet Governor Ikpeazu is a proud PDP Governor who carries the party’s flag with pride.
Shortly after hosting 5 APC Ministers today, Governor Ikpeazu traveled to Abuja to join his PDP colleagues for a crucial meeting of PDP Governors tomorrow.
While political pundits have ejaculated on speculations that Governor Ikpeazu is set to join APC, the man continues to focus on only one thing: greatest Good of the greatest number of Abians.
As recently pointed out by his chief spokesman, Enyinnaya Appolos, the governor believes that now is not the time for partisan politics but rather time to work and deliver values for the massive votes of Abians who braced all odds to get a common man elected as their common Governor.
It is this uncommon focus that made Governor Ikpeazu easily forget what happened before and after the last polls to throw his weight behind the resolution of the business rift between Geometrics Power Company and EEDC. Both companies are owned by individuals who never supported his gubernatorial ambition but actively worked against him in private and public.
Based on his economic development blueprint for Abia, uninterrupted power supply is key to drive growth at Aba; which will in turn lead to growth in Abia as a whole.
Simply put, for the sake of Abia Governor Ikpeazu is partisan politics blind, at this time.
What we are witnessing in Abia is first of its kind in Nigerian politics and drives the fabled politics without bitterness of Alh Waziri to new levels. It is also an eloquent statement in self confident integrity and uncommon focus on the welfare of your people, as first consideration over and above all other considerations.
For those still wasting time trying to second guess the Governor’s partisan politics inclination for today and tomorrow, I have one message for you: WAIT TILL 2019 and see if the flag in front of the official car of the Governor of Abia State will change.
But one thing you shouldn’t speculate on is the fact that Governor Ikpeazu puts Abia before partisan politics. It will remain like that till his tenure ends in 2023.
